Tutor Trust is a proudly northern charity working in collaboration with schools and other education settings with an aim to transform lives through tutoring in Greater Manchester, Merseyside, West Yorkshire and, more recently, Tees Valley. We deliver tailored tuition in English, maths and science to children and young people from Key Stage 1 through to post-16. We support pupils from underserved communities to tackle the educational inequalities they unfortunately face to help them reach their potential.
How do we work together with AllChild?
Tutor Trust and AllChild have been working in partnership since 2025, with Tutor Trust being selected as the tuition delivery partner for seven schools across Leigh, situated within the metropolitan borough of Wigan. Tutor Trust's tutors provide bespoke face-to-face tuition to young people nominated by schools and AllChild link workers, focusing on maths and English interventions that respond to each pupil's individual needs. This partnership has been instrumental in establishing our presence in the Leigh region, an area where we had not previously delivered significant work. Through our collaboration with AllChild, we've been able to work in five brand new schools, reaching children and young people who genuinely need targeted academic support and might otherwise have missed out on these vital interventions.
What is so important about your work?
The impact of our work through the AllChild programme has been highly encouraging. Our autumn impact data demonstrates positive progress both academically and in terms of pupils' confidence – two outcomes that are intrinsically linked. We see time and again that when young people begin to grasp concepts they previously struggled with, their self-belief grows alongside their skills. The AllChild programme's focus on academic outcomes aligns perfectly with our mission, and the young people we work with are developing not just subject knowledge, but resilience and a more positive attitude towards learning.
Many pupils arrive at tutoring sessions feeling anxious about maths or English, but through consistent, patient support from our trained tutors, we witness real transformation in how they approach challenges and view their own abilities. This shift in mindset is just as important as the academic progress we measure, because confident learners are more likely to engage with education and continue progressing long after our intervention ends.
Plans for the future
Looking ahead, we're excited to continue building on the foundations we've established through our partnership with AllChild. The connections we've made in the Leigh area represent an opportunity to deepen our impact and support even more young people who can benefit from tailored tuition. We remain committed to working alongside AllChild to ensure that every child on the programme has access to the personalised academic support they deserve, helping them overcome barriers and achieve their full potential.
