Why we exist

Our vision is that every child and young person, no matter what their social, emotional, or academic challenges, has a chance to flourish in the life they choose."

We work in some of the most underserved neighbourhoods in the UK. Without the right support at the right time in the right way, the children and young people in these neighbourhoods are at risk of exclusion, gang recruitment, being in neither education nor employment, or requiring social care.

But the system that supports children and young people is broken - rather than investing in early action, it reacts to late-stage crises. This is the worst possible outcome for everyone - for young people, for their families, for social and education services, for communities.

Young people and families cannot access the services they need and, even when they can, those services are built only to deal with one issue at a time - this isn't how real lives work.

The system wants to change, but no single party can do it on its own. There is support from schools, councils, central government, and philanthropists for targeted, holistic early action that treats children and families as real people. But only when connected can they make a difference.

We estimate that 20% of children and young people in the areas where we work are at risk of exclusion, gang recruitment, being in neither education nor employment, or requiring social care. But we can do it better - we can identify children and young people at the tipping point of need and connect local systems of support that help them navigate their unique social, emotional, and academic challenges before they hit crisis point.

Lives are complex - we need to understand and support the whole child to have an impact."

together, every child and young person can flourish.
