At In Your Corner, our mission is simple and bold: to ensure every young person in London struggling with their emotional wellbeing has someone"in their corner." We combine non-contact boxing with evidence-based psychological support to help young people develop the emotional and relational skills they need to thrive.
Our sessions are co-delivered by expert clinicians andEngland-accredited boxing coaches, meeting young people where they are and offering a culturally relevant, engaging alternative to traditional clinic-based services. Since 2017, we have worked with over 400 young people across London.
Our sessions positively push young people out of their comfort zones, challenging them to develop new skills and transform destructive inner monologues into self-belief and confidence. Sessions include boxing skills, pad-work, breathing and mindfulness techniques, and emotion-focused activities using boxing metaphors as learning moments, such as "what knocks you down" and "Muhammad Ali Make Your Own Quote"; which focuses on positive self-talk and self-encouragement.
In 2025 we became a registered charity, providing opportunities to scale our work and reach more young people. We're gaining recognition for our impact: winning a #WorldChangers Award, becoming a finalist at the Children andYoung People's Awards 2025 in the Mental Health and Wellbeing category, featuring in Boxing News, and most recently being shortlisted for the LondonSport Awards 2026.
Our partnership with AllChild has been instrumental in reaching more young Londoners. Through AllChild's networks, we deliver a schools programme targeting students struggling academically and socially. We've adapted our community programme to 90-minute sessions for in-school delivery, typically running 10-12 weeks. Each session blends physical skill-building with structured emotional learning. All young people set personalised wellbeing and boxing goals, working towards graduation at term's end.
Working with AllChild has strengthened our schools delivery model and provided a framework for adapting our core approach to meet diverse provision needs. Students report increased confidence, improved focus and concentration, and greater ability to manage feelings and behaviour. Staff notice improvements in attendance, engagement and peer relationships.
Additionally, AllChild has fostered partnerships with other delivery partners. We're currently working with Leap Confronting Conflict to deliver a workshop for participants in May, combining our aligned models to support conflict resolution, building supportive peer relationships, and making healthy choices.
We use boxing as a powerful hook to engage young people. This unique combination builds confidence and discipline whilst teaching practical skills for emotional regulation and communication. Our impact is consistently demonstrated through clinically meaningful improvements in wellbeing outcomes.Young people report better sleep, increased sense of safety, and improved emotional regulation. School staff observe enhanced attendance, engagement and peer relationships, thus proving that meeting young people where they are creates pathways to support that traditional methods cannot reach.
Child A, a Year 9 boy initially apprehensive about group participation, transformed dramatically over a ten-week Summer Term. His confidence soared from 2/10 to 10/10, attention span from 4/10 to 10/10, and perceived strength from 4/10 to 9/10. He mastered emotional regulation techniques for managing anger and discovered newfound teamwork skills, even joining a drama club. His feedback captures our mission: "When it comes to working on your emotions (the coaches) will teach you how to regulate...I've boosted my confidence and work better in teams…I didn't talk in teams before!"
We have ambitious plans to scale our reach across London, launching new community projects in Southwark, Camden, and Kensington and Chelsea. We're currently recruiting female boxing coaches to co-deliver groups focused on young women and girls starting April 2026.
